Day 1 – Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon
Pick up by your private driver guide at your hotel in Reykjavik. Please be ready in the lobby.
We drive out of Reykjavik to Thingvellir National Park, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage
Site. Home of Iceland´s parliament from 930-1798 , Thingvellir is also the point on the Earth´s surface where the North Atlantic ridge splits the two geological continents of North America and Eurasia. A fun fact, the tv series Game of Thrones shot some very famous fighting scenes in the park.
From Thingvellir, we continue over to the world famous Geysir geothermal area for a walk amongst the boiling hot springs. Just near by is the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall where you feel the thundering roar of the water falling down into a canyon.
Secret Lagoon Geothermal Pool
It has been kept natural and unique for the guests so they can get the true Icelandic feeling. The pool’s natural surroundings and steam rising into the air gives the place a magical feeling. The warm water stays at 38-40 Celsius all year. During winter, you might even see the northern lights above, if you are lucky.
We continue to the South Coast where we will spend the night.
Overnight in a country side hotel on the South Coast.
Day 2 – South Coast & Ice Cave
Today we take the direction to Myrdalsjokull glacier. Have you even seen blue ice? Well today you will!
We make a short stop in Vik village where we change into a Super Jeep and join a small group before heading to the Ice Cave.
This amazing ice cave and glacier presents you with black, white, and BLUE ice which is over 800’s years old. This adventure is not for those who are claustrophobic (or those scared of the dark!), but most certainly for those who have endless curiosity and exploring runs in their veins! After the journey through the green mountains and blue ice, we will find our way to explore one of Iceland’s amazing black sand dune beaches!
Safety always comes first and therefore we reserve the right to cancel the tour with short notice if the conditions are not right. We recommend you bring your warmest clothes, winter layers, gloves, hat, and camera but hiking shoes or snow boots are essential. We provide all the equipment needed.
Some of the caves are only accessible in temperatures below zero, such as when there is water on the ground that needs to be frozen all over in order for us to walk into the cave.
Going back to Vik village, we say goodbye to the Super Jeep and continue the day with our private driverguide in our own vehicle.
Stopping at Skogafoss waterfall, with its 62 m high cascade, is the perfect photo opportunity. Sometimes in wintertime, part of it freezes, which makes it even more beautiful.
Fun fact, many of the sites you will see today were used as filming locations for several Star Wars Movies.
Overnight in a country side hotel on the South Coast
Day 3 – South Coast and Lava Center
Today we are going to head back to Reykjavik, but on the way we will continue to explore the South Coast. This area has so much to offer, that you could spend several days here and never be bored.
We visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall, an Icelandic landmark. Depending on weather and ice conditions, it’s sometimes possible to walk behind it.
We continue towards the city and now we are going to stop at the Lava Centre.
The Lava Center is an interactive, high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland over millions of years.
Visit the Volcano, Lava or Ash Corridors – just to name a few.
We arrive in Reykjavik and drop you off at your hotel.
