Did You Know?

The rorbu cabins are located in the village and around the peaceful harbour, surrounded by beautiful nature and the wild sea. The size of the rooms reflects the fishermen’s need for an intimate and compact residence in the weather-beaten arctic environment, but they are carefully furnished to be comfortable and meet the needs of a modern lifestyle.

The cabins were originally divided into two parts, where up to twelve fishermen slept side by side. Their fishing gear, net and hooks were stored on the other side. Here the fishermen also prepared their nets with bait, which explains the holes in the timber walls, which are still visible today.

The rorbu cabins of Nusfjord are open all year round and invite you to experience the glowing midnight sun in summer and the spectacular northern lights in winter. All the cabins are located within a short walking distance of the village center and the eateries Restaurant Karoline, Loftet Lounge, Oriana Tavern, Aurora Foodbar and Landhandleriet Café.
