Train Oslo to Flam, via Myrdal

Upon arrival at the Oslo S Central Station, you will catch the Bergen Line, bound for Bergen, departing at 8:25am. The track number will be displayed at the information display screens.

Please note, Norwegian trains only offer 2nd class seating. Also note, there is a restaurant carriage on board serving both hot and cold dishes should you get hungry.

You will now cross the mountains from east to west. No other train ride between two cities in Europe is at a higher altitude than the one between Oslo and Bergen. Linking Norway's two main cities, this line takes in some dazzling scenery, with the most spectacular stretch being the one over the Hardangervidda, Europe's highest mountainous plateau. Finse, at 1,222 meters above sea level, is the highest point on the line. Building work, which started in 1875, took 34 years to complete, an involved a workforce of some 15,000 men. The 182 tunnels were carved by hand.

Upon arrival at Myrdal station approx. 1:04pm, you will disembark the train and change platforms to transfer to the famous Flåm Railway.

Please note, at Myrdal station you may find a small service building housing restrooms and a café. Should you have time and wish for a refreshment. 

Next, you will board the Flåm Railway, departing Myrdal at 1:24pm. you will depart Myrdal bound for Flåm. Kindly note this train has free seating (not assigned). 

This historic train will take you down the stunning Flåm Valley. On the 13 km-long train ride you can see rivers that cut through deep ravines, waterfalls cascade down the side of steep, snow-capped mountains and mountain farms cling dizzily to sheer slopes. Shortly after departing from Myrdal station, the train will stop at the Kjosfossen waterfall for a photo stop.

Upon arrival in Flåm, at approx. 2:22pm, you will disembark the train.
