Your journey will unfold with the expertise of local guides, who will lead you through landscapes that seem carved by time itself—crystal-clear ice formations glistening in the cool air, and a world that feels both ancient and otherworldly.

As you make your way deeper into the caves, you’ll learn the fascinating geological story behind these natural wonders, discovering how centuries of ice and volcanic activity have shaped this unique environment. You’ll also hear about Iceland’s rich culture and the people who have lived alongside these incredible forces of nature.

The towering ice walls of the Kötlujökull glacier are nothing short of spectacular. Named after the powerful Katla volcano hidden beneath its icy veil, this glacier stretches across the land, slowly carving its way into Iceland’s history. As you wander through the glistening blue and black ice dome, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a living glacier, one that has borne witness to centuries of natural change. Each step will bring you deeper into a place where time feels suspended, and the ice seems to tell its own story.

On this exhilarating Super Jeep tour, you’ll witness the raw beauty of Iceland’s icy landscape, uncovering the secrets of the glacier and its caves.

After the adventure, head to Reynisfjara’s black sand beach. The stark contrast of the dark sands against the crashing waves and towering sea stacks is a fitting end to your journey—a reminder of the powerful forces that shape this land.

Day 5
Snorkeling in Silfra Thingvellir National Park

Dive into one of the world’s most extraordinary snorkeling experiences in the crystal-clear waters of Silfra. This stunning fissure sits between the North American and Eurasian continental plates, constantly fed by glacial water that has filtered through lava rock for over 30 years. The result? The clearest water on Earth, with visibility reaching up to 100 meters.

Equipped in a dry suit, your guide will lead you through the four remarkable sections of Silfra. Drift through Big Crack, Silfra’s narrowest passage where the tectonic plates are so close, you could almost touch them. From there, the fissure opens up into Silfra Hall, where the water’s colors and clarity seem to stretch on forever. At just the right angle, you’ll catch a glimpse of Lake Þingvallavatn, over 150 meters away.

As you glide through the Silfra Cathedral, the depth reaches 23 meters, and you’ll feel weightless, floating over ancient boulders and glacial silt. Your journey ends in Silfra Lagoon, where the endless visibility invites a sense of peace and serenity, like nothing else you’ve ever experienced.

After your snorkel, explore Þingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest lake, nestled in the UNESCO-listed Þingvellir National Park. This historic park is where the North-Atlantic Ridge emerges above ground, and where, in 930 AD, the world’s oldest parliament, Althing, was established and continues to operate today.

Private Snorkeling Silfra tour

Snorkel between the continents in the clearest water in the world in Silfra fissure

Silfra is a fissure between the North American and Eurasian continental plates. Silfra constantly fills with glacial water that has been trickling through underground lava rock for 30 years. This remarkable crack between two tectonic plates is therefore filled with the clearest water on our planet, allowing for over 100 meters visibility.

Silfra is a fissure located in Þingvallavatn lake in Þingvellir national park. Its crystal clear water makes it possible to see as far as 50 meter in front of you. The water in Silfra is filtered glacier water that travels over 100 years through the Icelandic lava fields from Langjökull glacier. This means that the water is very cold, or approx 2°C all year around, as well as so pure you can actually drink it! The majestic colours of will Silfra leave your breathtaking.

On the snorkeling tour we will dress you in a dry suit and guide you through the four parts of the Silfra fissure. Floating through Silfra's crystal clear water is an otherworldly experience; the near-freezing water, astonishing colors, and sensations of flying provide a very unique environment for liquid meditation that you will never forget.

Day 6
Borgarfjorður Saga Valley

Discover the hidden wonders of Borgarfjörður, a captivating region nestled near Borgarnes in West Iceland. This area, brimming with volcanic landscapes, geothermal activity, and rich history, is a journey through Iceland’s natural beauty and agricultural heritage.

As you drive through the Borgarfjörður valley, vast, open landscapes unfold around you. Along the way, you’ll encounter Icelandic sheep and horses, and get a glimpse into local farming traditions with geothermal greenhouses that nurture fresh vegetables and fruits. Borgarfjörður is truly a geothermal paradise, where the earth’s natural forces are on display.

The valley is home to Hraunfossar, a series of crystal-clear springs that emerge from beneath a lava field, flowing without a river in sight—a strikingly unique phenomenon. Nearby, the Barnafoss waterfall tells the tragic tale of a natural arch that once stood there, only to collapse in a fateful accident.

You’ll also encounter Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. The intense geothermal activity here creates an environment unlike anywhere else, where you can unwind in geothermal pools while surrounded by stunning waterfalls, lava birch forests, and dramatic beaches.

Explore the depths of Víðgelmir, one of Iceland’s best-preserved lava caves. Discovered by ice buildup in the 1960s, it remained sealed until 1994, preserving delicate lava formations rarely seen in other caves. Víðgelmir lies within the Hallmundarhraun lava field, the largest in Borgarfjörður, formed by an eruption around 900 AD. This ancient landscape holds some of Iceland’s largest caves, offering an intriguing glimpse into the forces that shaped the land.

Borgarfjörður is a place where nature speaks in whispers of volcanic power and hidden beauty, waiting for you to discover.
