The power of the Earth
The science fiction of Jules Verne changed the way people viewed the world in the late 19th century, stories like Journey to the Center of the Earth, were based on research notes of French explorers who had made their journey to the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Iceland.
Mysterious, breathtaking, and out of this world are just simple words to get started when you enter the Snæfellsnes National Park, which some believe to be one of seven magnetic energy centers of the Earth.
What we do know, is that it contains the widest variety of different volcanic systems in the world that can be found in a single area. In effect, this means that in any direction you look at, the landscape changes completely, and the world becomes another.

Today we explore the famous Golden Circle. This route encompasses many of Iceland’s most famous landmarks: Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the location of the world's first parliament; Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss waterfalls.
At Thingvellir National Park history and nature meets. This is the only place where the Mid-Atlantic Ridge comes to the surface and forms a rift valley between tectonic plates. Filled in the fissure created by the separation of the plates is glacial water that has been filtered underground for decades through hardened, porous lava rock. The filtering process of the glacial water makes Silfra one of the clearest bodies of water on earth with up to 120 meters of visibility.
The history was made at Thingvellir when in 930AD was formed Althing, the oldest parliament still in operation. Therefore Thingvellir is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage for both, natural and cultural importance.
At Geysir geothermal area Strokkur, "the butter churn”, erupts about every 4-8 minutes. The big Geyser, which gave name to all other geysers, has been in recent years inactive.
Gullfoss is an iconic waterfall located in South Iceland on the Hvítá River which is fed by Iceland´s second biggest glacier, Langjökull. On a sunny day, the shimmering rainbow can be seen over the falls.

Astonishing medley of waterfalls, glacier & famous black sand beaches!
Today after breakfast at 8am you will meet with your guide at hotel lobby and together, you will drive south, along the shore, with black sand beaches on one side and hills with many waterfalls on the land side.
We recommend starting with Seljalandsfoss, where water drops from 60m, then continue to Skógafoss, the best-shaped and arguably the most photographed waterfall. Reynisfjaran black sand beach is one of the most southern points of mainland Iceland. Here you learn about how the basalt lava columns are formed - and don’t forget to collect some pebbles for souvenirs! Nearby admire the natural arch of Dyrhólaey, and other rock formations, like Reynisdrangar, that are tied to many folk tales and legends.
At the end visit the town of Vík í Mýrdal, which you will recognize by its iconic church up on the small hill. Here you can taste the local delicacies and learn about local culture.
A journey along Iceland’s South Coast promises an unforgettable day of natural wonders and unique experiences. Begin with a visit to the breathtaking waterfalls: marvel at Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the shimmering cascade, and discover the hidden beauty of Gljúfrabúi, tucked away within a mossy canyon.
Next, head to Skógafoss, where the thundering 60-meter drop and misty rainbows provide a sense of awe, followed by the serene Kvernufoss, a peaceful retreat offering a quieter, yet equally enchanting walk behind the falls.
As the day progresses, make your way to the famous Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, known for its volcanic sands, towering basalt columns, and the dramatic Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising from the Atlantic Ocean. Take in the raw power of the waves and the striking contrast between the dark sands and the white-crested surf.
Today, after breakfast, you will meet again with your private guide, at the reception of your hotel. Together you will start a drive further South towards Vatnajökull National Park.
Begin with, The Glacier Lagoon, located in the southeastern part of Vatnajökull National Park, the largest national park in Europe .Glacier Lagoon is filled with floating icebergs that calve from the nearby glacier, Breiðamerkurjökull, a tongue of Vatnajökull glacier, the largest glacier in Europe.
The Lagoon flows through a short waterway into the Atlantic Ocean, leaving chunks of ice on a black sand beach. The beach is named Diamond Beach because the ice often glistens like diamonds in the sunlight. With a bit of luck, there will be icebergs offshore on the beach during your visit!. In winter, the fish-filled lagoon hosts hundreds of seals.
Follow an experienced and qualified guide through a frozen wonderland of different shades of glacier ice. Take a look at deep crevasses and water cauldrons along with other interesting features of the glacier.
- During the tour, the guide will share their wisdom about the ever-changing landscapes of the Icelandic glaciers, their formation and how they are connected with surrounding volcanoes and mountains.
