Today we discover the most well-known natural sites of Iceland, connected by the Golden Circle route. We visit the largest lake in Iceland, Thingvallavatn, and the Thingvellir National Park. This national park is the oldest national park in Iceland and is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List for both natural and cultural importance. This is the only place in the world where The North-Atlantic Ridge comes to the surface, so you can see its composition. Here was also in 930 AD established Althing, the world’s oldest parliament still in operation.

In the Geysir area, you can see Strokkur, a 20-meter geyser, erupt every few minutes. The best view of the geysers is from the nearby hill with new walking trails, from which you can also see the surrounding landscape. The big Geysir, which gave name to all geysers in the world, is unfortunately not active anymore.

Waterfall Gullfoss is famous for its two cascades, perpendicular to each other. The glacier river Hvítá runs from Langjökull glacier, which you can see from the waterfall on days with good visibility. And on sunny days, a shimmering rainbow can be seen over the waterfall.

Arrive on the glacier for a once-in-a-lifetime adrenaline-pumping snowmobile experience.

Enjoy the breathtaking view as you glide across the glacier going where not many have been. The ride will take you from base camp and up into no-man’s-land for a once-in-a-lifetime thrill ride.

Today, you drive south along the shore, with black sand beaches on one side and hills with many small waterfalls on the land side.

You will see Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk behind and view it from every angle. We continue to Skógafoss, the best-shaped and arguably the most photographed waterfall.

Reynisfjara black sand beach is one of the southernmost points of mainland Iceland. Here, you learn about how the basalt lava columns are formed—and don’t forget to collect some pebbles for souvenirs!

Nearby, we admire the natural arch of Dyrhólaey and other rock formations, like Reynisdrangar, that are tied to many folk tales and legends.

We also visit the town of Vík í Mýrdal, which you will recognize by its iconic church on the small hill. Here, you can taste the local delicacies and learn about the local culture.

By mid-day, you will meet your guide and join others for the ice cave tour.

Overnight at Hotel Grímsborgir or similar

Discover the breathtaking beauty of Borgarfjordur, nestled near Borgarnes in West Iceland. Immerse yourself in the area's volcanic landscapes, hot springs, and historical sites. As you drive through Borgarfjörður valley, you'll be captivated by its vast open landscapes. Encounter Icelandic sheep, horses, and explore geothermal greenhouses producing fresh vegetables and fruits. Borgarfjörður is a must-see geothermal paradise, offering a glimpse into Iceland's natural wonders and agricultural heritage.

Borgarfjörður is located in the western part of Iceland. We drive through lush landscapes with rolling hills and tranquil waters.

We explore magnificent waterfalls Hraunfossar, that feature a series of clear cold springs that flow out from beneath a lava field, without any river being visible, creating a beautiful and unusual sight.

Nearby Barnafoss, “Children’s waterfall”, is a waterfall that, according to a folk tale, once had a natural arch that collapsed and caused a tragedy.

We also admire Deildartunguhver, the most powerful and one of the hottest and largest springs in Europe. Experience Europe's most potent hot spring and unwind in geothermal pools. Marvel at the region's stunning waterfalls, lava birch forests, and dramatic beaches. The dynamic geothermal activity beneath Iceland's surface is on full display here.

The south of Snæfellsnes welcomes us with waterfalls, beaches, and historical places.

Djúpalónssandur pebbled beach surprises you with rock formations of all shapes and sizes. We admire as well the small lagoons that have formed on the land. For the ultimate photo opportunity, we walk to a shipwreck in Dritvík. Here are also the stones that were used to measure the strength of the seamen. Try if you dare!

Malarrif lighthouse guards majestically the shores, and Lóndrangar rock formations remind us that once, here was a hill, that eroded away and only the rocky cliff remains.

To get the best views on Löngufjörur pink sand beach, very popular for horseback riding tours, we walk along Arnarstapi. Here we see the great contrast of green grass, black sand mountain, white glacier, blue ocean, and pink sand beach. A short walk leads us to Gattklettur, a natural arch along the cliffs full of nesting sea birds.

We walk into the deep Rauðfeldsgjá gorge, to see the river and small waterfall coming from a very narrow and high gorge, with rocky walls covered in green moss.

At Búðir we admire the old black church, the pink sand beach, and the views on the shores of the peninsula. Right opposite the church, on the inland side, is the majestic waterfall Bjarnarfoss.

Lýsuhól is one of the many farms offering horse-back riding tours, and the Lýsuhólslaug swimming pool is filled with all-natural geothermal water, containing “good” bacteria, that keeps the water clean.

At Ytri Tunga are great chances of spotting seals warming in the sun on the rocks and playing in the water. Have your camera ready and keep silent to not scare them away!

The Eldborg crater, rising 60 m high, is dominant in the otherwise low-land area. This dormant volcano erupted about 6000 years ago.
