Borgarfjorður Saga Valley

Encounter Icelandic sheep, horses, and explore geothermal greenhouses producing fresh vegetables and fruits. Borgarfjörður is a must-see geothermal paradise, offering a glimpse into Iceland's natural wonders and agricultural heritage.

Borgarfjörður is located in the western part of Iceland. We drive through lush landscapes with rolling hills and tranquil waters.

We explore magnificent waterfalls Hraunfossar, that feature a series of clear cold springs that flow out from beneath a lava field, without any river being visible, creating a beautiful and unusual sight.

Nearby Barnafoss, “Children’s waterfall”, is a waterfall that, according to a folk tale, once had a natural arch that collapsed and caused a tragedy.

We also admire Deildartunguhver, the most powerful and one of the hottest and largest springs in Europe. Experience Europe's most potent hot spring and unwind in geothermal pools. Marvel at the region's stunning waterfalls, lava birch forests, and dramatic beaches. The dynamic geothermal activity beneath Iceland's surface is on full display here.

You will also learn about Iceland’s renewable energy practices, cross an icy stream of glacial meltwater. The highlight of this excursion is a serene soak in Giljaböð Canyon Baths, a surreal hot spring paradise that has to be seen to be believed.

Experience the serene beauty of the Húsafell Canyon Baths, a stunning hike through the remote Icelandic wilderness that concludes with a soothing geothermal soak in pools nestled within a magnificent highland canyon.

Begin your adventure with a short ride from the Húsafell Activity Centre, followed by a relaxed walk through surreal landscapes that include the breathtaking two-tiered Langifoss waterfall and the site of Okjökull, Iceland's first glacier claimed by climate change.

The highlight of this tour is undoubtedly the Canyon Baths themselves. Choose between two geothermal pools with temperatures ranging from 30-41°C (86-105°F), each offering spectacular views of the surrounding canyon, mountains, and glaciers.

The Húsafell locals have designed these baths using environmentally sustainable practices, incorporating local materials like flagstone from the canyon floor and repurposed timbers from nearby areas, making the entire experience authentically Icelandic.

Day 4
Golden Circle

Today we explore the famous Golden Circle. This route encompasses many of Iceland’s most famous landmarks: Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the location of the world's first parliament; Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss waterfalls. At Thingvellir National Park history and nature meets. This is the only place where the Mid-Atlantic Ridge comes to the surface and forms a rift valley between tectonic plates. Filled in the fissure created by the separation of the plates is glacial water that has been filtered underground for decades through hardened, porous lava rock. The filtering process of the glacial water makes Silfra one of the clearest bodies of water on earth with up to 120 meters of visibility.

The history was made at Thingvellir when in 930AD was formed Althing, the oldest parliament still in operation. Therefore Thingvellir is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage for both, natural and cultural importance.

At Geysir geothermal area Strokkur, "the butter churn”, erupts about every 4-8 minutes. The big Geyser, which gave name to all other geysers, has been in recent years inactive.

Gullfoss is an iconic waterfall located in South Iceland on the Hvítá River which is fed by Iceland´s second biggest glacier, Langjökull. On a sunny day, shimmering rainbow can be seen over the falls.

After dinner, go on a Northern Lights cruise from DownTown Reykjavik
