Today, you will head to the port for your Arctic Cod fishing excursion. Every winter, millions of Norwegian Arctic cod swim down from the Barents Sea to the Lofoten Islands to spawn. You may experience this incredible phenomenon firsthand onboard an authentic fishing vessel with local fishermen.
In the far north of Nordland county in Northern Norway, the Lofoten Islands extend dramatically into the Norwegian Sea. Since the Viking Age, these islands have been a hub for fishing Norwegian Arctic cod, or skrei (pronounced "skrey"), which come here to spawn during the winter months.
You'll join an experienced, and our most trusted local captain, who is a longtime fisherman himself and shares knowledge and exciting stories from the old days in the village. Together, on board a traditional fishing boat, Elltor, you may get a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains from the water and possibly get a glimpse the majestic sea eagle or whale on the trip. After the trip, guests can deliver their catch to the kitchen of Nusfjord Arctic Resort (your hotel) and have it served for dinner at the Karoline Restaurant.
