Bergen Børs Hotel

Bergen most fashionable hotel

The history of Bergen Børs hotel dates back to 19th century. Housed in a beautifully restored historical building that was once the stock exchange, the hotel seamlessly blends historic elegance with modern comfort. With a range of carefully designed rooms and suites, guests are treated to a lavish stay adorned with nordic furnishings and contemporary amenities.

Bergen Børs Hotel, designed by architect F.W. Schiertz, opened in 1862 and was rebuilt in the Neo-Renaissance style from 1890 to 1893. The architectural firm Claesson Koivisto Rune was responsible for converting the former stock exchange building into a hotel that has preserved its unique history while adding a more modern style. According to the architects, "eccentricity" and "magic" were key concepts as a starting point for the process.

The hotel also houses the restaurant Frescohallen, an impressive hall with murals on the walls and an international menu and local seafood, of course. In addition, you can eat Spanish tapas at Fresquito, or enjoy a unique flavour experience in the gourmet restaurant Bare by Pak.

Private guided walking tour, Bergen

Throught the charming cobble-stoned streets of Bergen

Today at 10am, your private guide will meet you at the reception of your hotel, ready to take you on a 4-hour private guided walking tour of Bergen. Your guide is knowledgeable and will adapt the tour to your wishes. Together you may decide on what you would like to see during your tour.

From your hotel, you may start by visiting the famous UNESCO listed Bryggen. The Bryggen Wharf was established here in Bergen in the 12th century. Starting in 1360 the Hanseatic League, a guild of German merchants who dominated trade in Europe from the 13th to 17th centuries founded a Kontor (trading post) here and gradually came to control the Bryggen area until 1754. Though the buildings you see here today date from after the great fire of 1702, the architectural style has remained the same over time and is much older than the buildings themselves.

Whilst you explore the city, we suggest you visit the Schøtstuene, where you’d grasp an idea of the life and work of Hanseatic merchants on Bryggen from 1360 to 1761. These were the assembly halls of the Hanseatic merchants at Bryggen and have been part of the Hanseatic Museum since 1938. Schøtstuene consists of four living rooms and two cook houses. A unique medieval ruin, sheltered under Schøtstuene, has been made available to the public through its own exhibition through a glass floor.

You could also stop and admire St. Mary’s Church, dating back to 1170, and one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in Norway. Pass by Koengen, which was once an army depot, and see the medieval Bergenhus Fortress.

During your walking tour (or after), you may also ride the Fløibanen Funicular Railway to the top of Mt- Fløien. This is one of Norway’s best-known attractions. Fløibanen can be found in the heart of Bergen, close to the fish market and the Bryggen wharf. The journey up to Fløyen Mountain (320 m above sea level) takes 5–8 minutes. The journey is an experience in itself and at the top, you can enjoy fantastic views over Bergen.

Your walking tour will end back at hotel, or any other location you prefer in downtown Bergen. After your tour, you may spend the rest of the day exploring Bergen some more on your own.

Nusfjord Arctic Resort

Welcome to the Lofoten Islands

The enchanting and peaceful fishing village of Nusfjord is a unique destination in the Lofoten archipelago.

This village boasts a long and rich history where ancestors established a way of life dominated by nature’s rules. Today, their legacy and spirit continue to thrive in the village.

As travelers journey through the majestic mountain passes of Flakstad, a salty sea breeze awakens the senses, heralding the start of an authentic Lofoten Islands adventure. Guests can imagine waking up in a traditional rorbu in Nusfjord, surrounded by the charm of historic fishing cabins. A stroll along the centuries-old wharf allows immersion in the daily life of fishermen from a century ago, with the echoes of their stories resonating in the air.

Nusfjord offers guests unforgettable and authentic experiences, including adrenaline-filled excursions and a taste of the unique cultural life in the valley, in collaboration with local partners. The village prioritizes expanding its societal participation by using exquisite, fresh, and natural ingredients in its culinary offerings, with a special focus on "locavore" (locally produced food). This approach allows guests to savor the special Arctic flavors.

Nusfjord is synonymous with authentic experiences and genuine Norwegian traditions. The community takes pride in preserving nature, culture, and the environment in its hometown. Continuous efforts are made to reduce food waste, develop menus in close collaboration with local producers and suppliers, utilize geothermal energy and ocean heat, and provide guests with environmentally friendly experiences.

  • 3 Restaurants on site: Karoline, Oriana Tavern and Landhanleriet Cafe
  • Wellness facilities: spa lounge, steam room, open-air bath, sauna and jacuzzi

Did You Know?

The rorbu cabins are located in the village and around the peaceful harbour, surrounded by beautiful nature and the wild sea. The size of the rooms reflects the fishermen’s need for an intimate and compact residence in the weather-beaten arctic environment, but they are carefully furnished to be comfortable and meet the needs of a modern lifestyle.

The cabins were originally divided into two parts, where up to twelve fishermen slept side by side. Their fishing gear, net and hooks were stored on the other side. Here the fishermen also prepared their nets with bait, which explains the holes in the timber walls, which are still visible today.

The rorbu cabins of Nusfjord are open all year round and invite you to experience the glowing midnight sun in summer and the spectacular northern lights in winter. All the cabins are located within a short walking distance of the village center and the eateries Restaurant Karoline, Loftet Lounge, Oriana Tavern, Aurora Foodbar and Landhandleriet Café.

Private sauna ritual, Nusfjord

After a day of adventure, guests are invited to relax and recharge in the soothing spring waters of Nusfjord’s outdoor spa while enjoying stunning sea views.

Sauna Rituals is a calming, therapist-guided treatment designed to help guests reconnect with nature through the healing elements of the sea. This ritual uses seaweed, sea salt, and mindful practices to promote a sense of renewal, leaving participants feeling refreshed and invigorated.

The experience begins as the therapist guides guests into a warm sauna, where essential oils create a tranquil atmosphere that promotes relaxation. The gentle heat of the sauna opens pores, allowing the skin to absorb the rich ocean minerals introduced in the following steps.

With the skin warmed and softened, the therapist applies a fresh seaweed serum across the body. This nutrient-rich serum, derived from the sea, is gently massaged in, promoting deep hydration and nourishment.

An artisanal scrub, blending mineral-rich sea salt with hand-harvested seaweed, is then applied in smooth, circular motions. The Seaweed Scrub gently exfoliates the skin, removing impurities and invigorating circulation. The fresh, mineral scent of seaweed fills the air, enhancing the immersive, nature-inspired experience.

To complete the ritual, guests are guided to a cold plunge or refreshing shower, invigorating both body and mind. This final step seals in the ocean’s healing benefits, leaving guests with a sense of clarity, revitalization, and balance.

Did You Know?

Nusfjord’s outdoor spa is a true masterpiece, crafted by recent graduates from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. The Nusfjord Arctic SPA offers two traditional hot tubs and an outdoor sauna, set in a peaceful, secluded area away from the fishermen’s cabins and village. Tucked behind the cod liver refinery, it provides a spectacular view of the fjords. Whether visiting in summer or winter, the Arctic SPA offers an authentic Scandinavian relaxation experience—the perfect way to warm up after a day filled with unforgettable moments.

Today, you will head to the port for your Arctic Cod fishing excursion. Every winter, millions of Norwegian Arctic cod swim down from the Barents Sea to the Lofoten Islands to spawn. You may experience this incredible phenomenon firsthand onboard an authentic fishing vessel with local fishermen.

In the far north of Nordland county in Northern Norway, the Lofoten Islands extend dramatically into the Norwegian Sea. Since the Viking Age, these islands have been a hub for fishing Norwegian Arctic cod, or skrei (pronounced "skrey"), which come here to spawn during the winter months.

You'll join an experienced, and our most trusted local captain, who is a longtime fisherman himself and shares knowledge and exciting stories from the old days in the village. Together, on board a traditional fishing boat, Elltor, you may get a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains from the water and possibly get a glimpse the majestic sea eagle or whale on the trip. Private guided walking tour, Oslo

Explore the city´s highlights

Today after breakfast, at 10am, you will meet your private guide at the reception of your hotel. From here, you will start your private guided walking tour of Oslo. Your guide is flexible and together you can decide which sights and attraction to visit.

We recommend you visit Rådhuset (the City Hall). The construction started in 1931, but was paused by the outbreak of World War II, before the official inauguration in 1950. The building was designed by Arnstein Arneberg and Magnus Poulsson, and it has been decorated by great Norwegian art from 1900-1950, with motifs from Norwegian history, culture and working life. The roof of the eastern tower has a 49-bell carillon which plays every hour. It is situated in Pipervika in central downtown Oslo. The area was completely renovated and rebuilt to make room for the new city hall, back in the late 1920s. In June 2005, it was named Oslo's "Structure of the Century".

You could also enjoy a stroll at Karl Johans Gate, the main thoroughfare of Oslo. This street contains many shops and places to eat. Stortinget (the Norwegian Parliament), the University and numerous parks line the street. This street also takes you to the National Palace, the Royal Residence, surrounded by lush gardens and historic charm.

You may wish to visit the Oslo Opera House, a home to the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet. It is covered in white granite and Italian marble, and its angular exterior gives the appearance of rising from the sea. This magnificent building was designed by the Norwegian award-winning architectural firm “Snøhetta”, who also designed the Ground Zero Memorial & Museum in New York. Uniquely, you can walk on its roof for a nice view of the bay.

Your tour will finish at your hotel, or a location in the city center, and you may spend the rest of the day on your own leisure.

Did You Know?

These are merely suggestions. Together with your guide you may decide which sights to include in your tour.
